Ask anyone who orders lunch for a team in Kitchener-Waterloo what the hardest part is and it is never the food. It is the four people who can’t eat it. One is vegan, one is coeliac, one has a nut allergy and one keeps halal, and the standard platter answer is a separate, sadder box for each of them. This is how to feed the whole room the same well.
Design the menu around the requirements, not despite them
Most dietary needs are only awkward when they are bolted onto a menu written for everyone else. Written in from the start, a menu can be mostly naturally gluten-free, mostly plant-forward with a protein alongside, and nut-free throughout without anyone noticing a compromise. That is how custom menus work at Claire’s Kitchen: the requirements arrive with the enquiry and the menu is built from them.
Collect the requirements once, properly
Send one message to the team — or a two-line form — asking for allergies, intolerances and dietary preferences by name. Keep the list. It is the same list next month, with one or two changes, and it saves re-asking thirty people every time.
Label everything
Labelled dishes turn a cautious lunch into a relaxed one. People stop asking and start eating. It also protects the person with the serious allergy, who otherwise ends up interrogating whoever brought the food.
Drop-off is fine. Better than fine.
For working lunches, sprint reviews and internal workshops, drop-off catering that arrives ready to serve is the right tool. The difference between good and bad drop-off is entirely in the cooking: small batches, cooked that day, seasoned properly. It does not have to look like the catering you have had before.
Make it recurring
If the team eats together every Thursday, quote it as a weekly arrangement rather than a new order every week. The menu rotates, the requirements are already on file, and the admin disappears. Choose ongoing, every week on the enquiry form.
Where we deliver
Corporate catering is available across Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge — the tech corridor along the University of Waterloo and the R+T Park, uptown Waterloo, the downtown Kitchener innovation district and the Cambridge business parks — plus Guelph, and out to Oakville, Milton, Burlington and the GTA.
Request a quote with the headcount and the list of requirements. The menu comes back written around them.
